Ingredients

Scale

Proteins

  • 12 oz fresh or thawed shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz steak (sirloin or ribeye), sliced into thin strips

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp butter, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Pasta & Garnish

  • 12 oz fettuccine pasta
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp if needed. Slice the steak into thin strips for even, quick cooking. Mince the garlic and grate fresh Parmesan cheese to have all components ready for cooking and sauce preparation.
  2. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and reserve some pasta water for later use in the sauce if needed.
  3. Season and Sauté the Steak and Shrimp: Sprinkle Cajun seasoning evenly over the shrimp and steak pieces. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt 1.5 tablespoons of butter. Sear the steak until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside. In the same skillet, cook the shrimp until pink and opaque, about 2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside with the steak.
  4. Make the Alfredo Sauce: Add the remaining butter to the skillet and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Let the sauce thicken slightly over low heat. Season with salt, pepper, and additional Cajun seasoning to taste.
  5. Combine and Finish: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Add the drained pasta and gently toss to blend the sauce thoroughly with the noodles and proteins. Use reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce and achieve desired consistency.

Notes

  • Choose the freshest shrimp and high-quality steak for best results.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp and steak to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Grate Parmesan cheese fresh to ensure a smooth, flavorful sauce.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning gradually to balance spice with creaminess.
  • Reserve some pasta water to help emulsify and loosen the sauce when mixing.
  • You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a dairy-free alternative for a lighter or dairy-free version.
  • For a vegetarian option, replace shrimp and steak with grilled portobello mushrooms or roasted vegetables.
