Description

These Chocolate Peanut Butter Sweet Rolls combine rich chocolate and creamy peanut butter in soft, fluffy rolls baked to golden perfection. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a comforting snack, this indulgent treat offers a perfectly balanced sweetness and a tender texture that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour – 4 cups (480g)
  • Active Dry Yeast – 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
  • Milk – 1 cup (240ml), warmed
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup (50g)
  • Butter – 1/4 cup (56g), softened
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

Filling Ingredients

  • Peanut Butter – 1 cup (smooth, creamy)
  • Cocoa Powder or Melted Chocolate – 1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder OR 1/3 cup (60g) melted chocolate
  • Brown Sugar – 1/3 cup (70g)
  • Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk slightly, then stir in sugar and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy to activate the yeast. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and softened butter. Gradually add the yeast mixture and eggs, stirring well to form a smooth dough. Knead for 8-10 minutes until elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm, draft-free area until doubled in size, about 1 to 2 hours.
  2. Make the Filling: While the dough rises, whisk together the creamy peanut butter, cocoa powder or melted chocolate, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and spreadable. If too thick, warm gently to ease spreading.
  3. Roll and Fill: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the peanut butter and chocolate filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border along one edge to help seal the rolls.
  4. Roll and Slice: Carefully roll the dough from the long side into a tight log. Slice the log into 9 to 12 equal pieces depending on preferred roll size. Place the rolls cut side up into a greased baking dish, spacing them slightly apart.
  5. Second Rise and Bake: Cover the dish loosely and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked through. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Always check your yeast’s expiration date for best rising results.
  • Use just enough flour to keep the dough manageable; avoid adding too much to prevent dense rolls.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free environment for proper proofing.
  • Use creamy peanut butter for smooth spreading and better filling texture.
  • Brush melted butter on top immediately after baking for extra shine and richness.
