Description

Garlic Butter Steak with Parmesan Cream Sauce is a rich and indulgent dish featuring juicy, perfectly seared steak topped with a luscious garlic butter and creamy Parmesan sauce. Easy to prepare in under 30 minutes, this recipe delivers bold flavors and comforting textures, ideal for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 2 steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon), about 8 oz each
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Garlic Butter

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Parmesan Cream Sauce

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: splash of milk or additional cream to thin sauce if needed

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Bring steaks to room temperature for about 20 minutes to ensure even cooking. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the natural beef flavors.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place steaks in the pan without overcrowding and sear each side for 3 to 4 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms. Aim for an internal temperature of about 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Remove steaks from the pan, cover loosely with foil, and set aside to rest.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: Reduce heat to medium. Add unsalted butter and minced garlic to the same pan. Stir frequently and cook until fragrant and garlic just begins to turn golden, being careful not to burn as bitterness will develop.
  4. Prepare Parmesan Cream Sauce: Pour heavy cream into the pan with garlic butter, stirring to combine. Slowly whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If sauce is too thick, add a splash of milk or cream to loosen it.
  5. Finish and Serve: Return steak to the pan briefly to reheat and coat with garlic butter. Plate the steak and generously spoon the Parmesan cream sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley for color and freshness.

Notes

  • Use a cast iron skillet for best searing and even heat distribution.
  • Allow steaks to rest after cooking to redistribute juices for tenderness.
  • Grate Parmesan cheese fresh for optimal melting and texture.
  • Keep sauce temperature moderate to prevent butter and cream from separating.
  • Season sauce carefully as Parmesan adds saltiness.
