Ingredients
Scale
For the Lemon Syrup
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
For the Cream Mixture
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Other Ingredients
- About 24 ladyfingers (Savoiardi)
- Fresh lemon zest, berries, and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
- Simple syrup or lemon syrup (for soaking ladyfingers; lemon syrup recipe above)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lemon Syrup: Combine fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, sugar, and water in a saucepan. Simmer gently until the sugar dissolves completely, creating a vibrant lemon syrup to soak the ladyfingers.
- Whip the Cream and Mascarpone: In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with vanilla extract and sugar until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, creamy base.
- Soak the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the lemon syrup, ensuring not to soak too long to avoid sogginess. Layer them evenly at the bottom of your serving dish or individual cups.
- Layer the Cream Mixture: Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the soaked ladyfingers evenly. Repeat by adding another layer of soaked ladyfingers, then top with the remaining mascarpone cream.
- Chill and Garnish: Cover the tiramisu and refrigerate for at least four hours to let the flavors meld and the dessert set. Before serving, garnish with fresh lemon zest, berries, or mint leaves for an attractive and flavorful finish.
Notes
- Use room temperature mascarpone to blend smoothly and prevent lumps.
- Do not oversoak ladyfingers; a quick dip keeps them soft but intact.
- Chill for at least four hours for optimal flavor and texture.
- Always use fresh lemon juice and zest for the best bright citrus flavor.
- Adjust sugar to your taste and to balance lemon tartness.
