Description

Pecan Pie Balls are bite-sized, crunchy, and buttery treats filled with rich pecan pie filling. These easy-to-make dessert balls combine the classic flavors of caramelized pecans and a crisp pie crust, perfect for sharing at parties, holidays, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 batch buttery, flaky pie crust dough

Filling

  • 1 cup chopped toasted pecans
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup (or pure maple syrup as a substitute)
  • 1 large beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pie Crust: Roll out your pie crust dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into small circles approximately 2-3 inches in diameter using a cookie cutter or glass. These will serve as the shells for your Pecan Pie Balls.
  2. Make the Pecan Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine chopped toasted pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, corn syrup, beaten egg, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until all ingredients are fully incorporated into a sticky, flavorful filling.
  3. Assemble the Balls: Place a small spoonful (about one teaspoon) of the pecan filling onto each dough circle. Carefully fold the edges up and pinch them together to enclose the filling, forming a ball. Make sure the filling is securely wrapped to avoid leaking during baking.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the Pecan Pie Balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the filling bubbles slightly. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh pecans: Toast chopped pecans lightly to enhance their flavor and crunch.
  • Chill the dough: Keep your dough cold before shaping to prevent stickiness and ease handling.
  • Don’t overfill: Use about a teaspoon of filling to avoid spills and ensure even cooking.
  • Seal edges well: Pinch and press dough firmly to keep filling enclosed during baking.
  • Cool completely: Allow the balls to cool so the filling sets perfectly before handling.
